G E O M E T R Y Radius B house
New Construction, for-sale residence
4,500 sf, Tiburon, CA
Using a first and then second radius springing from a central entry gate point of origin, we defined the circular building shell and outer terrace perimeter for a spec house on a spectacular view site in the Tiburon hills. Spaces are arranged as a gallery for the views, with the axis of the living room aligned directly upon the center of the Golden Gate Bridge, and an axis from the breakfast circle aligned to the Transamerica tower in downtown San Francisco. Landmarks near and far are framed in each window. The landscaped terrace, edged with an infinity pool curved by the second radius, creates an outdoor room accessible from each public interior space to accommodate multiple loop circulation pathways, inside and out.
Maple flooring, copper barrel roofing and flashing, mahogany framed windows, and a washed stucco exterior finish complete a palette of materials and detailing that is both lean and warm, reflecting a kind of romantic modernism. The entry rotunda is attached to a master bedroom / office suite at the western wing, and a circular mahogany stairway leads down to 3 bedrooms and exercise studio at the lower level. Cross ventilation and ample access to the sun provide a naturally passive energy home.
